Gamers can select PayPay to top-up their COD Points (CP) on the Call of Duty®: Mobile web store in Japan, which was launched in January this year and is powered by Coda’s Custom Commerce.PayPay is also available as a payment method for selected titles on Codashop Japan, which was established in 2015, is Coda’s web-based marketplace for in-game currency and digital content top-ups that has over 10 million users monthly around the world. Gamers across Japan can now choose PayPay to make purchases for several popular games on Codashop Japan, including ASTRA: Knights of Veda, ZEPETO, and Generation Zombie.

“Partnering with PayPay to bring their trusted payment service to Codashop Japan is a huge milestone for Coda,” said Mukul Chawla, Managing Director of Global Partnerships at Coda Payments. “This collaboration reflects Coda’s dedication to drive more value and better experiences for consumers in Japan by offering diverse, convenient and secure local payment options. PayPay is known for its commitment to excellence – from its services to security – and this is something we share with them. We look forward to expanding our offerings with PayPay and growing this partnership to greater heights.”

Hiroto Takagi, Corporate Officer, PayPay Corporation, commented: “We are very pleased to partner with Codashop to provide the PayPay payment service. As of June 2024, PayPay has more than 64 million registered users, which means that one out of every two people in Japan uses the PayPay app. Since its launch in October 2018, PayPay has been widely adopted by brick-and-mortar stores, including large chain stores and small and medium-sized shops, but as lifestyles change due to the coronavirus pandemic, we have also focused on introducing it to online services. In particular, the need for payment by code has been growing for online services because it does not require credit card and other information to be input at the time of payment. We will continue to deepen our cooperation with Codashop to provide users with a safe, secure, and more convenient payment experience.”

Coda, headquartered in Singapore, has deep roots across Southeast Asia and rapidly expanded globally from the US to LATAM and MENA in recent years.  Teaming up with Japan’s leading payment service provider, PayPay, is a significant step for Coda as it continues to expand its presence in the Japanese market.
